Trudeau Enters Self-Isolation After Contact w/COVID Case

Earlier today it was announced that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would go into self-isolation having come into close contact with a confirmed COVID case.

  • The PM will enter self-isolation for a period of five days after coming into contact with the positive case on Wednesday.
  • CBC reports that, "A government source who was not authorized to speak on the record said the exposure came after his late-afternoon news conference Wednesday on Parliament Hill, where he and Defence Minister Anita Anand announced that Canada will expand its military training mission in Ukraine and offer non-lethal aid."
  • Trudeau's isolation means that he will not be physically in attendance at the House of Commons on Monday 31 January, when the chamber starts a new sitting following its Christmas break.
