USDCAD Opens Support With 1.24 Handle

CANADA
  • Firming equities, a continued rise in oil and relative underperformance in Canadian short-term rates has seen USDCAD tentatively drop through two closely packed support levels.
  • Currently -0.2% at 1.2546 and off a low of 1.2542, it’s through support at 1.2565 (Mar 21/22 lows) and then 1.2552 (76.4% retracement of Jan-Feb rally).
  • This next opens 1.2499, the Jan 21 low.
  • Scheduled Fedspeak from Daly and Bullard today unlikely to provide any material twists after already speaking yesterday but new commentary due tomorrow from Williams and Evans.
