Weekly Global LNG Imports Rose 8% WoW

Global LNG imports rose by 8% on the week to 7.6mn tons in the week 18-24 September, driven by shipments into India and some European countries according to BNEF.

  • Shipments to India last week rose to 0.88mn tons, up from 0.39mn tons the week prior.
  • NW European and Italian imports fell to 0.88mn tons, from 1.20mn tons the week prior while imports into other Europe – including Spain – rose by 0.29mn tons on the week to 0.89mn tons.
  • On the supply side, US LNG exports rose last week to 1.87mn tons, up from 1.52mn tons, partly because Freeport shipped one more cargo due to a prior outage.
