White House: It Is Clear That OPEC+ Is Aligning With Russia

US

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has told reporters that the group of oil producing countries, OPEC+, is "aligning with Russia" in a press gaggle aboard Air Force One.

  • Jean-Pierre's comments come in the wake of a punchy 2m b/pd production cut announced by OPEC today - a cut which exceeded many analyst predictions.
  • Jean-Pierre: "Its clear that OPEC+ is aligning with Russia, with today's announcement, and I'll leave it at that."
  • Jean-Pierre: "By making this decision its going to have an effect on low and middle income countries."
  • Jean-Pierre refused to be drawn on whether the decision should be considered a hostile act by Saudi Arabia and declines to comment on if it will affect US-Saudi relations: "This decision by OPEC+ is one of purported self interest is a mistake, its misguided."
