White House Refutes Blog Post Claiming US Blew Up Nord Stream Pipeline

The White House has called a blog post by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, claiming that the US with the assistance of Norway, blew up the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines in Sep 22, "utterly false and complete fiction'".

  • Hersh claims that the White House ordered the pipeline blown up by the CIA using NATO exercises as a cover for planting bombs on the pipeline.
  • The US has denied any involvement in the sabotage. So far, no country or organisation has claimed responsibility for the incident.
  • US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said at a recent Senate hearing that 'I am, and I think the (Biden) administration is very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2 is now... a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea.'
  • Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after the hearing that 'This is not only the direct participation of the United States in the explosions of the Nord Stream pipelines. Ms. Nuland has now made a confession,"
