Xi Talks Up Economic Links, Belt & Road At Meeting w/Russian PM

(MNI)-London - Chinese state media reporting comments from President Xi Jinping at his meeting with Russian PM Mikhail Mishustin in Beijing. States that, "China is willing to continue to support issues concerning each other's core interests." Xi: "Two sides should further upgrade economic, trade, and investment cooperation."

  • Xi: "China is willing to work with Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road Plan."
  • Xi: "China is willing to promote the formation of a more open regional market, ensure the stability and smoothness of the global industrial chain and supply chain."
  • Xi: "China and Russia should consolidate and expand the basic cooperation in energy and interconnection, and create more new growth points."
  • Following an earlier meeting between Mishustin and Premier Li Qiang, Reuters reported that the two signed memorandums of understanding including, "...an agreement to deepen investment cooperation in trade services, a pact on export of agricultural products to China, and another on sports cooperation."
