Cheniere Aims for Earlier Start to Corpus Christi Stage 3

Cheniere Energy is aiming to start the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion in late 2024 months earlier than initially projected according to the company’s third-quarter earnings call.

  • Construction is now 44% compete having begun in June 2022 when Cheniere made a positive Financial Investment Decision for the stage 3 project. Full completion is projected for the second half of 2025 to the second half of 2026.
  • The addition of seven modular “midscale” trains will add 10mtpa to the existing South Texas plant increasing overall capacity to more than 25mtpa. Corpus Christi Liquefaction facility currently has three fully operational liquefaction units each designed to produce 5mtpa of LNG.
  • Cheniere continues to permit and market two more expansion phases at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi.
