Trump Continues To Extend Polling Advantage Over DeSantis

US

A new survey of California Republicans from Berkely IGS has shown how dramatically the Republican primary has swung towards former President Donald Trump since Feburary 2023.

  • Berkely IGS: “The current poll finds Trump to be the choice of 44% of Republicans considered likely to vote in California’s upcoming March presidential primary, comfortably outdistancing [Florida Governor Ron] DeSantis [R-FL], his closest rival, who stands at 26%.
  • "Three months ago, DeSantis was the choice of 37% of the state’s Republicans and led Trump by eight points. None of twelve other presidential contenders included in the poll received more than 4% support.”
  • The survey also demonstrates the lack of traction for second tier candidates with former Vice President Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), failing to win significant early support.
