Turkish Energy Minister in Talks with Israel About Gas to Europe

The Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said Thursday he plans to visit Israel in November to discuss the transit of gas to Europe through Turkey.

  • Bayraktar also said Turkey, was getting requests from other European countries, including Germany, to procure it.
  • Turkey has recently signed gas supply deals with Romania and Moldova.
  • Turkeys President Erdogan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in person for the first time in September and said they would soon be taking joint steps in energy drilling as relations between the nations warm.
  • "God willing, we will take this step without much delay and we will start energy drilling operations with Israel. We will also start operating energy transfer networks to Europe through Turkey, not just to Turkey," Erdogan said after the meeting in September
