US Gasoline Demand Around 8.7mn bpd Last Week: OPIS

The OPIS gasoline survey places US gasoline demand at about 8.7mn bpd last week – flat with the week prior.

  • US gasoline consumption this week two years ago was at 9.3mn bpd according to OPIS. It expects US gasoline inventory accumulation to occur in Nov, Dec and Jan.
  • Gasoline prices in the largest bulk market on the planet (US Gulf Coast) earlier this week traded at their lowest levels since mid-December 2022. CBOB was ~$2.02/gal and RBOB around $2.04/gal. Given processing costs and RVO, US refiners are losing ~$5/bbl on most output currently according to OPIS.
